CareCloud and ZocDoc Announce Partnership to Address Growing Challenges Facing U.S. Physician Practices and their Patients

Leading Healthcare Platforms Partner to Deliver a More Seamless and Open Experience for Shared Clients

NEW YORK & MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CareCloud, the fastest-growing provider of cloud-based practice management, electronic health records (EHR), and medical billing software and services, and ZocDoc, a service that helps patients receive faster access to care and optimizes doctors’ schedules, today announced a partnership in which ZocDoc will fully integrate into CareCloud’s platform via APIs. As a result, CareCloud practices using ZocDoc will have a more seamless experience in allowing patients to instantly book appointments online via ZocDoc.com or the free ZocDoc mobile apps. This new capability, available in the coming months, will help these two leading services’ joint clients achieve greater efficiency and revenue, while ultimately improving their patients’ experience and access to care.

This partnership addresses a few growing concerns, the first of which is regarding a potential shortage of available physicians in coming years, exacerbated by the arrival of millions of newly insured patients associated with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The May 2013 Practice Profitability Index (PPI), which surveyed more than 5,000 U.S. physician practices regarding issues impacting the financial and operational health of their practices, revealed that 48% of participating physicians lack the resources to accept these new patients created under the ACA.

In addition to new challenges brought about by the ACA, physicians are frustrated with an increasingly fragmented health IT landscape, and they are demanding more integrated solutions to address their practices’ needs. Health technology companies have an opportunity to collaborate and provide a more dynamic and unified experience for their clients, delivering support that enables physicians to successfully run their practices and focus on providing quality care for their patients.

“Physician practices across the country are under acute financial pressure due to declining reimbursement and evolving government mandates, leaving many concerned about their ability to accommodate patients as millions of newly insured Americans enter the healthcare system,” said Albert Santalo, CEO and Chairman of CareCloud. “Our partnership with ZocDoc exemplifies our strategy of opening our platform to work with the most innovative healthcare IT and non-healthcare companies alike to deliver practical, cloud-based solutions that enhance patient engagement and ultimately support the financial health of clients’ businesses.”

As an innovator in cloud-based practice management, EHR, and revenue cycle management for medical groups, CareCloud delivers easy-to-use software solutions to increase profitability and productivity for physician practices. CareCloud’s platform powers over 3,700 providers in 47 states, supporting more than 5.5 million unique patients.

“Our clients tell us that a robust integration of best-in-class software is increasingly crucial for their practices, and good for their patients,” said ZocDoc founder & COO Oliver Kharraz MD. “These savvy providers want these services - which they consider essential for their practices - to work together seamlessly. This partnership with CareCloud reflects our dedication to delivering the interoperability that they require.”

ZocDoc houses the nation’s largest real-time database of available doctors’ appointments, and more than 4 million patients use ZocDoc each month to find a nearby, in-network doctor and instantly book appointments online. This free service for patients is live in more than 1,900 cities, covering 40 percent of the U.S. population. Appointments made on ZocDoc have grown more than 200% year over year, and patients have booked more than 1,000 different types of procedures on ZocDoc to date.

In October 2013, ZocDoc released the results of its first annual Digital Doctor Survey, exploring how physicians plan to engage with various technologies over the coming year. The Digital Doctor Survey found that the vast majority of physicians surveyed have implemented a practice management system in their office. Data from the survey also indicated that these physicians are looking to deploy new technology that will not only allow them to optimize their practice’s overall workflow but better engage patients.

The integration between CareCloud and ZocDoc addresses this growing market trend and is a result of both companies’ modern, cloud-based experience and dedication to delivering critical and innovative functionality into the healthcare marketplace quickly and more easily.
